ABINGTON, Pa. – Hosting Cazenovia College on Senior Day, the Penn State Abington women's soccer team earned its first draw with a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon. Abington moves to 3-4-1 in the conference after today.
The Nittany Lions honored seniors
Michelle Latronica,
Michaela Mast,
Jill Osborn,
Jessica Domansky,
Greta Sheridan and
Haley Keller for all their hard work and contributions to the program over the past four years.
In the first half the Nittany Lions pressed the back line of Cazenovia forcing the Wildcats Alyssa Conolly to save the attempts to keep Abington off the score sheet.
The stalemate continued into the second half, when Sheridan made a super sub appearance. Before the corner Sheridan took the field, charged the box off the corner kick and headed in her shot to give Abington the 1-0 advantage. With only a few minutes left in the game the Wildcats struck back with a goal to force overtime.
Neither team could break through in the first overtime period, but the Nittany Lions pushed to get the game winning goal in the second overtime period. Their five shots couldn't find the back of the net in the first draw of the season.
Abington will hit the road when they travel to the College of Saint Elizabeth for a Wednesday match up at 4:00 p.m.
