LANCASTER, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer held onto an early lead off a goal from
Michelle Latronica (Philadelphia, Pa.), but the Lancaster Bible Chargers earned the win in overtime in a 2-1 loss in the season finale on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions fall to 6-10-1 and 4-5-1 to end their regular season.
The senior forward kicked things off against the Chargers in the 10
th minute with her 5
th goal of the season to give the Nittany Lions the lead over their hosts. The Chargers responded in the 34
th minute when Raegan Horst netted her 11
th goal of the season to tie the match.
In the second half the Chargers kept up the attack with 15 shots, but only four of them tested the goal keeper
Samantha Friend (Philadelphia, Pa.), and were easily saved.
Neither team could break through in the second half and went into overtime. Only 37 seconds into the extra period Maggie Arnold scored the game winner with her chip.
The Nittany Lions will enter the NEAC Conference tournament as the four seed in the South Division and will face off against perennial NEAC champion Penn State Berks at 4:30 p.m on Tuesday evening.
