Women's Volleyball Tops Bryn Athyn, 3-2

BRYN ATHYN, PA. – Junior Andia Anderson (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded a season high 16 kills in a thrilling 3-2 come from behind win over rival Bryn Athyn on Wednesday night.  The Nittany Lions snapped their four game losing streak with a critical conference win to improve to 7-9 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Junior libero Cori Watson (Harleysville, Pa.) recorded seven service aces and 20 digs for the night and sophomore Cortney Schwar (Annandale, NJ) aided the Nittany Lions with 25 assists.

The Nittany Lions held a lead in the first set, but the Lions stole momentum and tied the game at 21-21 and Bryn Athyn pulled away to take a 1-0 advantage. Abington shook off the first set earning a dominate win in the second set with a 25-13 decision. Only two points away  from the win the Nittany Lions squandered a 23-14 lead as Bryn Athyn stormed back with 11 consecutive points to win the third set and take a 2-1 lead. After the late collapse in the previous set, the Nittany Lions rebounded with a 25-14 win in the fourth set to tie the match and force a fifth set.  Abington jumped out to an early lead in the fifth set and held on to a 15-10 win to clinch the match.

Abington will hit the road to New York where they will face off against York College on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
