ABINGTON, Pa. – A double-double from junior forward
Jordan Lomax (West Haven, CT) helped the Penn State Abington men's basketball team to its first season opening win in over a decade, with a 84-68 win over Mount Saint Mary on Wednesday night.
Lomax led the Nittany Lions with 16 points and 13 boards to complete the double-double.Â
Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA),

John Ryan (Warminster, PA) all broke the double-digit mark in scoring.
In the first half both teams battled to take the lead with the Knights taking the early advantage on three consecutive three-balls to take a 16-8 advantage. The Nittany Lions responded with a shot from behind the arch by Ryan. Reese later tied the game 18-18 with under ten minutes to go with his shot from downtown. The Nittany Lions took control of the lead with thee-consecutive three pointers of their own. Down by 10 points with under a minute to go, the Knights didn't go down quietly and chipped away the deficit to one point before the half, highlighted by a last second three pointer.
The Nittany Lions held on to the slim advantage in the second half, but with eight minutes off the clock the Nittany Lions heated up behind the arch. Two consecutive three-balls from Hill, and a layup gave the Nittany Lions the 59-46 decision. The Knights again brought the game within seven points, by earning fouls and hitting their free throws.  With two minutes left to play Tyler McDine drained a three pointer for the Knights to bring the game within six points. Reese took over the game scoring the games next five points and sealing the victory for the Nittany Lions.
Abington will face another tough non-conference test when they host Arcadia university this Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
