Nittany Lions Shut Out Penn College, 3-0 on the Way to the NEAC Final

ABINGTON, Pa. – An early header from freshman Michael Albers (Southampton, Pa.) helped the Penn State Abington men's s soccer to the a 3-0 shutout of Penn College to advance to the NEAC Finals on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions entered the match fired up, and came out of the gate hot.  Albers went to the back post on a free kick and headed the ball past the keeper in the third minute of the match.  Abington kept the tempo up and doubled its lead on another set piece in the 21st minute. Freshman Sebastian Krysztofowicz (Doylestown, Pa.) took a free kick and placed it on the underside of the crossbar and into the net. The Wildcats were stymied by the NEAC's best defense and could only muster three shots the entire half.

In the second half sophomore Chris Schlegel (Philadelphia, Pa.) put the nail in the coffin when he fired his shot that deflected off the defender and into goal, to give the Nittany Lions the 3-0 advantage.  The Nittany Lions held firm for their sixth shutout of the season.

Abington will face off against SUNY Poly tomorrow, going for their first NEAC Conference Tournament Championship in program history tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
