OWINGS MILLS, MD – The Penn State Abington men's basketball snapped their losing streak with a 94-85 win over Medgar Evers in the final game of the Buffalo Wild Wings Classic. After the win the Nittany Lions improve to 3-7 for the season.
Six players for the Nittany Lions hit double figures in the win, and freshman
Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA) lead the pack with 20 points. Â Right behind
Terrance Reese (Philadelphia, PA) was effective in his 26 minutes on the floor as he chipped in 19 points. Â Freshman
Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) and junior
Jordan Lomax (West Haven, CT) both recorded double-doubles in points and rebounds.
Right out of the gate Lomax went to the hoop, scooped the rebound and put it up to give the Nittany Lions an early lead, but the Cougars responded with two shots from behind the arch. The Nittany Lions kept pace with the Cougars and took the lead back off a three ball from Reese. Abington pushed its lead to double-digits off the clutch shooting from behind the three-point line, but the Cougars clawed their way back before the break.
In the second half Medgar Evers took the lead after five minutes of action, but the Nittany Lions roared back in the see-saw match. Abington held on to a slim margin till the final minutes when they extended their lead and hit their free throws.
The Nittany Lions will be back in action when they host the Pratt institute on Thursday January 4, at 6:00 p.m.
