Nittany Lions Streak Past Bryn Athyn, 81-63

ABINGTON, Pa. –Four starters for the Penn State Abington men's basketball team scored into double-digits, as the Nittany Lions exacted revenge over their cross-town rivals, Bryn Athyn, on Saturday afternoon. The 81-63 win pushes the Nittany Lions into third in the NEAC South, with an 8-11 record overall and 7-7 in the conference.

The Nittany Lions have already surpassed their 2015-16 mark with this win, despite having several weeks to go in the season.

Freshman John Ryan (Warminster, Pa.) continues to impress in his first year with the Blue and White, leading the Nittany Lions with 20 points. Freshman Austin Slawter (Philadelphia, Pa.) fell just shy of the elusive triple-double with 16 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.

Bryn Athyn dominated the first ten minutes of the game with a 21-8 lead over the Nittany Lions.  After a timeout, the Nittany Lions regrouped and stunned the Lions in the final ten minutes. They outscored their opponent 34-8, and shifted a 13 point deficit to a 26 point swing their favor.

A strong second half from junior's Nick Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Kenny Bey-Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) helped the Nittany Lions maintain control of the game. Brown dominated the boards with a fast-break dunk in the opening seconds of the second half. Bey-Brown found lanes through the defense and fought through defenders for his points in the paint.

Abington will be back in action when they travel to Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
