ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team hosted John Jay College and came away with a 6-3 win over the Bloodhounds on Wednesday afternoon. The Nittany Lions improve to 5-17 for the season.
Junior Pitcher
Don Halbruner (Southampton, Pa.) put in a great performance almost going a complete game with five strike outs in eight and a third innings of work. Offensively freshman
Stevie Stevenson (Westhampton, NJ) led the way for the Nittany Lions, knocking in three runs on two hits and stole two bases. Senior
Trey Guaglionona (Abington, Pa.) continued his hot streak with a double and a triple for the day.
The Bloodhounds were on the board in the first inning with an RBI single, but Abington answered in the second inning off when
Dante Milillo (Philadelphia, Pa.) drove in his first of two runs to tie the game. A double in the third inning put them back on top of the Nittany Lions. A lead of single from
Austin Mikula (Philadelphia, Pa.) kicked off the inning, and was driven home by Guagionona's triple to deep center field. Milillo was next to the plate and did the job with a deep ball for the sacrifice fly. With two outs, the Nittany Lions weren't done just yet Stevenson sliced a ball down the left line to push the Nittany Lions lead to 4-2. Stevenson put up the next two runs with his hit through the left side that put the game out of reach for John Jay.
