MORRISVILLE, NJ – The Penn State Abington Softball team traveled to New Jersey to take on the College of Saint Elizabeth but, came away empty handed as the Eagles swept the Nittany Lions on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions fall to 15-13 overall and 9-5 in the conference.

Offensively, the Nittany Lions were led by Becca Dougherty (Churchville, Pa.) and Isabel Hoch (Philadelphia, Pa.) both with home runs in game two.

In game one Abington jumped out in front in the first inning with four runs with an RBI double from Caitlin Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) and RBI singles from Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Sam Goetz (New Egypt, NJ.). The Eagles answered to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth inning and three runs scored off a home run to left center field.

A double in the second inning gave the College of Saint Elizabeth a slight edge, leading the Nittany Lions 5-4.

In the fourth inning a single to center field for Dougherty tied the game for the Nittany Lions.

The Eagles would go on to score seven runs, powered by two home runs from Elizabeh Unger's second of the day and one from Danesha Triplett.

In game two the Eagles took an early 7-1 lead but the Nittany Lions clawed their way back in to the game in the third inning.

A double to left center field from Dougherty chipped in a run for the Nittany Lions and back -to-back home runs in the fifth inning from Hoch and Dougherty brought the Nittany Lions within three runs.

The Eagles picked up a crucial run in the bottom half of the inning and another home run from Triplett put the game out of reach for the Nittany Lions.
