ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington softball team hosted NEAC South leaders Penn State Berks, but couldn't steal a game away from the visitors being swept on Wednesday afternoon. In a great pitching duel, Abington fell in game on 1-0, and lost game two 13-3. The Nittany Lions fall to 15-15 for the season and 9-7 in the conference.
In game one
Becca Dougherty (Churchville, Pa.) took the mound and put in great effort only surrendering one run, but Berks pitcher Val Miller threw a one hitter to stymie Abington's offense.
Berks was on the board in the first inning with three runs, but Abington responded in the bottom half of the inning. The Nittany Lions tied the game with three runs, highlighted by a double from
Caitlin Brasier (Levittown, Pa.). Penn State Berks went on to score the next ten runs to complete the sweep.
Abington returns to action when they host Gallaudet on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
