ABINGTON, PA. – Junior pitcher
Becca Dougherty (Churchville, Pa.) pitched her fourth complete shutout of the season in a series split with Gallaudet on Friday afternoon. Abington won the first game of the day 2-0, but dropped game two 5-0 as the Nittany Lions move to 16-16 overall and 10-8 in the conference after today's doubleheader.
In game one the Nittany Lions excelled behind great defense, not committing a single error and a strong performance on the mound. The Nittany Lions did their damage in the second inning with a leadoff single from
Caitlin Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) and next a double from
Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) A deep sacrifice fly from
Sam Goetz (New Egypt, NJ) got the Nittany Lions their first run on the board. Next a RBI single from Carly Heim (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished off the scoring.
In game two, the Nittany Lions struggled at the plate with only four hits during the game, while the Bison took advantage of multiple errors from the Nittany Lions to steal game two.
Abington will honor three seniors tomorrow when they host Wilson College for a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
