Nittany Lions Sweep Wildcats

ROME, NY – The Penn State Abington baseball team picked up two big conference wins in a series seep over Cazenovia College on Friday afternoon. Abington improves to 12-20 overall and 8-2 om the conference.

Behind two great pitching performances from Pedro Aldebol (Camden, NJ) and Austin Mikula (Philadelphia, Pa.) the Nittany Lions only gave up four earned runs throughout the doubleheader.

The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the first game, but in the fourth inning the Nittany Lions drove in two runs to tie the game on back to back singles from Julio Aira (Miami FL) and Trey Guaglionona (Abington, Pa.).  With two outs in the fifth inning the Nittany Lions took the lead with two more runs highlighted by a Brett Guaglionona (Abington, PA.) double.  The Nittany Lions held off the Wildcats in a late rally to win the first game 5-4.

In game two, the Nittany Lions capitalized on four errors and toasted the pitcher with 16 hits in an easy 10-1 win. Freshman Stevie Stevenson (Westhampton, NJ) was consistent at the plate with three hits and scored three of the Nittany Lions runs. At the plate it was a team effort with seven different players knocking in RBIs in a 10-1 rout.

Abington will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to SUNY Poly for a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
