Nittany Lions Top Keuka College in NEAC Tournament

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team kicked off its 2017 NEAC Tournament with a come from behind 5-4 win over Keuka College.

In game one the Nittany Lions struggled to produce runs until late in the game. The Wolves were on the board in the fifth inning when they took advantage of an error to score two runs. Later in the inning Keuka added to its total with another error to take a 3-0 lead.

Abington finally got on to the board when Julio Aira (Miami, FL) knocked in Trey Guaglionona (Abington, Pa.) with his single to right field.

An RBI single from the Wolves in the 9th inning padded their lead.

Down 4-1 in the ninth inning, Abington kicked off its rally with a leadoff triple from Guaglionona driven moments later from Aira.  The Nittany Lions were patient at the plate with four walks, including the game winning walk off from Matt Meyers (Cheltenham, Pa.).

Abington faced off against Penn State Berks in their second game of the day, and took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. An Austin Mikula (Philadelphia, Pa.) single through the right side gave Abington the 1-0 advantage. With bases loaded Christopher Hartman (Philadelphia, Pa.) drew a walk to make it 2-0 after one inning.

Berks got onto the board in the fourth inning and took the lead by capitalizing on an error from Penn State Abington.

Freshman Stevie Stevenson (Westhampton, NJ) tied the game on a sacrifice fly just outside the infield, knotted at three runs for each team.

In the seventh inning the game was called due to darkness and will be finished tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m.
