ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team hosted rival Penn State Berks, and split with the visitor. Abington pulled off a 7-5 win in game one, but fell to Berks in game two 7-4 Monday afternoon. The baseball team moves to 15-21 to end their regular season.

Abington honored six seniors after the doubleheader for their contribution to the program.

In game one freshman
Stevie Stevenson (Westhampton, NJ) was a terror on the bases with three stolen bases. In the third inning the shortstop stole second, and third base before the catcher overthrew, the tag allowing Stevenson to score the Nittany Lions first run. Three RBI singles from
Trey Guaglionona (Abington, Pa.),
Julio Aira (Miami, FL) and
Christopher Hartman (Philadelphia, Pa.) aided the Nittany Lions to a 5-1 lead at the end of the third.

Berks earned a run back in the fifth inning off a double down the line, but Abington responded in the sixth inning. An RBI single from
Tyler DiPatri (Pedricktown, NJ) pushed the Nittany Lions lead even further, and
Austin Mikula (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished off Berks with his RBI single to center field later in the inning.

A late rally from Berks put Abington on edge, but senior
Diego Melendez (Camden, NJ) picked up his fourth win of the season with a perfect 4-0 record.

Two home runs for Penn State Berks gave the visitors a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Later in the inning Berks earned a bases clearing double to center field to push the lead to 6-1.

Abington took advantage of multiple mistakes by Berks in the fifth inning to chip away at their lead, and in the sixth inning
Dante Milillo (Philadelphia, Pa.) ripped a double down the line to bring Abington within two runs down 6-4.

Berks added to its total in the seventh inning with an RBI double and held on to keep Abington from the sweep.

The Nittany Lions have clinched a spot in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament, but will have to wait to see where they will be seeded after Penn College and Keuka College face off.
