ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team welcomed Albright College to Memorial Field, but the Lions came out on top with a 3-0 win over Abington on Tuesday afternoon. The Nittany Lions are still searching for their first win with a 0-4 record, while Albright improves to 2-3 for the season.
In the first half senior center back
Greta Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) had the best chance of the game for the Nittany Lions. Off a corner kick, Sheridan crashed the box, and her header was blocked only by the crossbar and bounced harmlessly out of the box. Minutes later Albright capitalized on their shot when Crissy Terraces chipped the ball on the edge of the box to beat the keeper. The Lions pressed Abington's defense, but the Nittany Lions held firm only down 1-0 at the break.
The Lions kept the pressure on with 12 shots in the second half, and in the final ten minutes of the match, they put the game out of reach with two more goals.
The Nittany Lions will be off until Sunday, September 17
th when they host Alfred State at 1:00 p.m.
