Hackettstown NJ- The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team traveled to Centenary College for a tri-match and came away with a 3-0 win defeating Centenary College but dropped their match against Valley Forge 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Offensively Junior
Andia Anderson (Philadelphia, PA.) led the Nittany Lions in kills with 20 between two games followed by senior
Tiffany Watson (Philadelphia, PA.) with 16 kills for the day. Sophomore
Cortney Schwar (Annandale, NJ) recorded 35 assists to aid Penn State Abington.
The Nittany Lions started out slow against Valley Forge with a 25 211 loss in the first set, but Abington battled back in the second set with a 25-22 win, and another 25-22 win in the third set to take the lead. The Patriots rebounded in the fourth set with a 25-20 win to force the fifth set. In the final set the Nittany Lions battled back and forth between the Patriots but a six-point run helped Valley Forge clinch the match.
In the second game of the day, the Nittany Lions cruised over Centenary College with a 25-15 win in the first set a 25 - 17 victory in the second set in a 25-13 decision to earn the win.
Abington will be back in action when they travel to Gwynedd Mercy on Tuesday, September 5th at 7 p.m.
