Nittany Lions Roar Past the Express, 80-69

ABINGTON, Pa. – The Men's Basketball Team defeated Wells College 80-69 in an important conference game Sunday afternoon. The Nittany Lions showed their depth with a total of 34 points from the bench and a vital 19 second-chance points that propelled them to victory. A comprehensive and great team effort helped Abington improve their record to 5-8 overall and 3-3 in the NEAC.

Sophomore Terrance Reese (Philadelphia, PA) led the Nittany Lion with 16 points, while junior Jordan Lomax (West Haven, CT) completed the game with 14 points. Freshmen Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA) was instrumental for the team as he landed a total of 13 points and led the team with five assists for the game.

During the first half, the game was back and forth between both teams. The Nittany Lions and the Express were tied 5 times for a total of three minutes during the half, with four lead changes. Abington's biggest lead of the half was 4 points and it came after sophomore Jordan Lomax notched a layup in the paint with 5:51 left, but both teams went to the locker room tied at 37 each.

Early in the second half, both teams were once again trading points; however Abington created a gap between them with a massive 19 points run that gave them a big advantage in six minutes of action. The 19 point run was highlighted by freshmen Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) when he landed a huge three pointer for the Nittany Lions that helped them sustain their double-digit lead.

The Nittany Lions will be back in action when they travel to Bryn Athyn College looking for the series sweep on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m.
