Abington Powers Past Berks, 95-76

ABINGTON, Pa. – A dominate performance from junior forward Jordan Lomax (West Haven, CT) helped the Penn State Abington men's basketball team rebound to a 95-76 win over Penn State Berks on Tuesday night.  After the series split Abington improves to 7-8 overall and 5-3 in the conference sitting in third place in the NEAC South Division.

Lomax dominated the boards with 20 rebounds, only four shy of tying a game record for the program. Along with his boards Lomax knocked down 24 points for the night, and was followed by freshman Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA) with 15 points.

Lomax controlled the boards in the first half, and netted Abington's first four points, but Penn State Berks went on to take an early lead.  A three-ball from Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) shifted momentum in favor of the hosts, and behind Lomax earning points at the stripe, took the advantage back.  A five point run from sophomore Terrance Reese (Philadelphia, PA) pushed Abington's lead into double digits, which was highlighted by a clutch shot from downtown.  Abington continued to push up the court and finished the half with a 12-0 run, that was capped off by a tough layup in the final seconds from Lomax.

After Abington held a 23 point lead in the second half, the visitors slowly clawed their way back.  Berks continued to knock down their shots from three, and Abington came up empty on offense.  The visitors rallied to within six points of Abington, but Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) shot life back into the Nittany Lions after his steal and one-handed dunk.  With the Athletic Building rocking, Abington was able to sustain their momentum and cruise past Penn State Berks.

The Nittany Lions will face a tough road task ahead of them when they travel to NEAC leader Lancaster Bible on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
