Abington defeated by Lancaster Bible, 72-55

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Penn State Abington women's basketball team were unable to pull off a victory against Lancaster Bible College after a 72-55 loss on Saturday afternoon. The match featured the two best teams from the NEAC South Division and didn't disappoint, with a total of seven lead changes. Towards the end, LBC pulled away to win the game. Abington's record falls to 10-7 overall and 5-4 in the NEAC.

Junior guard Shayna Rodriguez (Philadelphia, PA) continues her MVP caliber season as she finished the game with 25 points, and is currently leading the NEAC in points per game. Senior Symantha Marrero (Philadelphia, PA) played a key role in the match with 15 points for the Nittany Lions, while Iman Richmond (Chicago, IL) contributed with eight points and six rebounds.

Straight from the tip-off, the Nittany Lions were on fire. Abington made three straight three point shots to start the game and a commanding 11-4 lead just under three minutes into the game. The Chargers quickly responded with their own threes. At the end of the first quarter, Lancaster Bible had a slight five point advantage.

In the second quarter, Marreo made a big three to start off the quarter. Both teams were trading points with each other with several lead changes throughout the game. After a very entertaining quarter, only one point separate both side at halftime.

As the second half started, both teams continued to keep it very close and competitive.Rodriguez dominated the Chargers defense several time while driving straight down the lane to the bucket throughout the half, however that wouldn't be enough. In the 4th quarter, the Chargers went on a 12-0 run and then pulled away from Abington.

Abington will be back home on Tuesday January 30, when they host Gallaudet at 8:00 p.m.
