Nittany Lions Rally Falls Short to Bison

ABINGTON, Pa. – Down by a large margin to Gallaudet the Penn State Abington men's basketball team rallied to take the lead, but fell short of the win in a 72-67 loss on Tuesday night. The Nittany Lions drop to 7-10 for the season and a 5-5 mark in the conference.

Freshman Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA) led the pack with 19 points and freshman guard Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) knocked down 11 points on the night.  Junior Jordan Lomax (West Haven, CT)  had another dominate night on the boards with 10 for the Nittany Lions.

The Nittany Lions struggled  in the first half, with only a 20 percent shooting average from the floor.  The Bison took the double-digit lead in the first few minutes of action and didn't look back, easily pushing the advantage to 18 points. Freshman Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) stole momentum in the final minutes of action, when he knocked down his shot behind the arc.  Lomax helped the Nittany Lions claw back by earning gritty points in the paint, drawing fouls, and converting his free-throws.  Gallaudet held on to a 41-29 lead at the break.

In the second half Gallaudet pushed its lead to 16 points with complete control of the game. The Bison struggled to hit their free-throws which allowed the Nittany Lions back. Consecutive threes from Hill and Kevin Raymond (Chalfont, PA) gave the Nittany Lions life, and late in the half the senior guard would earn the Nittany Lions their first lead of the game. A sweet three ball from behind the arc gave the Nittany Lions the 62-61 advantage.  Gallaudet took back the lead and held onto it by hitting free-throws down the stretch.

Abington will be on the road when they travel to New York to face Cazenovia College at 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
