Cazenovia, NY– In one of the closest games of the season, the Penn State Abington Men's Basketball team won a thriller over Cazenovia College 78-75. Down by 14 at the half, the Nittany Lions fought their way back against the Wildcats. The team had a total of 25 points off of turnovers which was a big reason for the come from behind win. The Nittany Lions improved to 7-10 overall and 5-5 in the NEAC.
Sophomore
John Ryan (Warminster, PA) led the pack with 18 points and contributed 3 steals to help the defensive effort for Abington. Sophomore
Terrance Reese (Philadelphia, PA) landed 12 points, while Freshman
Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA) notched 11 points for the game. In this big team win, nine different Nittany Lions scored, with a total of 28 points coming from the bench.
The Wildcats gained an eight points advantage early in the game; however that lead would quickly disappear. The Nittany Lions went on a 12-1 run midway through the half. During the run, Reese made a big three from beyond the arch to give Abington a three point lead. Towards the end of the half, Cazenovia pulled away and took a double digit lead going into half time.
The second half had a different storyline to it. Under just seven minutes into the half, Ryan knocked down a lay-up and made his and-one free throw that changed the momentum of the game. The Nittany Lion then went on and made three straight three point shots that closed the gap. With under a minute left in the game, senior
Kenny Bey-Brown (Philadelphia, PA) made two crucial free throws after he was fouled by Cazenovia's Ahmond Powell. This gave Abington a 5 points lead with just 59 seconds remaining. Cazenovia were unable to rally and the Nittany Lions defense remained stout throughout.
Abington will be back in action tomorrow 12 PM, as they travel to Morrisville State College.
