LANGHORNE, PA – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team snapped their losing streak with a thrilling 3-2 win over Carin University on Wednesday night. The Nittany Lions improve to 4-16 after the win.
Senior
Andia Anderson (Philadelphia, PA) led the team with 14 kills and junior
Cortney Schwar (Annandale, NJ) had a phenomenal night racking up 33 assists for the team. Defensively
Eva Ashley (Marion, TX) put up a career high 18 digs and
Elizabeth Erhart (Ciudad de Panama, Panama) dominated serving with six aces.
In the first set the Highlanders earned a 25-19 win to take the first point of the match. The Nittany Lions were down by 16-9 early in the second set, but Abington rallied and pulled ahead of Carin for a 25-23 win. All tied 1-1, Carin took the third set with a 25-22 decision. Again Abington battled in the fourth set, rallying to another come from behind win with a 25-21 victory to tie the match at 2-2. Abington pulled ahead early in the final set with a 4-0 advantage, and never looked back with a 15-8 win to clinch the match.
The Nittany Lions will travel to Morristown New Jersey for a pair of NEAC matches on Saturday afternoon against Morrisville State at noon, and Cazenovia at 2:00 p.m.
