Abington, P.A.- The Penn State Abington women's basketball hosted Swarthmore College for the first time in school history, and earned their first season win by defeating the Garnet 69-54.

 Senior Shayna Rodriguez (Philadelphia, PA) led the Nittany Lions with her first double-double of the season with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and shooting 11-12 from the free throw line. Abington's two newest junior transfers Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) and Laquana Nagbe (Philadelphia, PA) opened their collegiate career as Nittany Lions with double digits. Barrow netted 12 points and Nagbe scored 10 points. Sophomore Iman Richmond (Chicago, IL) and freshman Lacy MacLachlin (Boyertown, PA) each drained Abington's only 3 pointers of the night. 

The Nittany Lions continued to heat up in the second half, when they successfully shot 100% from the free throw line out of 16 attempts. Abington remained unstoppable in the paint with a total of 30 points. 

The Nittany Lions will be back in action on Friday November 16th when they travel to the Stockton Tip-Off Tournment to face the Catholic University of America at 8:00pm.
