LANGHORNE, P.A.- On Tuesday evening, the Penn State Abington women's basketball team defeated Cairn University 77-63. Senior Shayna Rodriguez (Philadelphia, PA) hit the biggest milestone in her career, becoming Penn State Abington's All-Time Leading Scorer.
Before heading into the Cairn game, Abington' previous record holder was Trish Watson (2013), who set the record in 95 games with 1,473 career points. After tonight's stellar performance, Rodriguez surpassed Watson in only 75 games and set the record to 1,492 career points and counting. Tonight, Rodriguez recorded 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals against the Highlanders.
Juniors Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) and Laquana Nagbe (Philadelphia, PA) lead Abington's offense tonight with 15 points each. Freshmen Mikayla Noel-Cohen (Sicklersville, NJ) and Wynter Bess (Philadelphia, PA) both earned their season high of 13 points.
Abington dominated by producing points in the paint with a total of 52. The Nittany Lions improve on the season to 3-1. After the holiday break, Abington will host NEAC opponent Gallaudet University on Wednesday November 28 at 5:30pm.
