Nittany Lions Earn Big Win over Penn College

ABINGTON, PA – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team hosted Penn College and came away with a 94-74 win on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Nittany Lions improve to 4-2 for the season overall, and 2-0 in the conference.

Sophomore Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA) netted 23 points including five shots from behind the arc. Junior forward John Ryan (Warminster, PA) did it all, with 12 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for the night. Freshman Alex Salata III (Pottstown, PA) had a career night with 16 points.

In the first half, the Nittany Lions battled Penn College in a close game. Later in the half the Nittany Lions defense forced three turnovers all followed by points on their way to a 10-2 run. Abington held on to their double digit lead thanks to fantastic shooting from behind the arc. Salata III hit 4-of-5 from three, Hill drained his two shots from downtown, and Jay Fitzgerald got in on the action with his shot from three point land.  For their efforts the Nittany Lions held a 43-34 lead at the break.

Sophomore Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) set the tone early cutting the defense and earning his points in the paint to put the Nittany Lions back into a double digit lead.  Only minutes later Ghee dominated with the steal and punctuated it with the one handed dunk.  Abington was in complete control with 10:47 on the clock up 70-49 after a three ball from Fitzgerald. The Nittany Lions finished out the game strong and were never threatened by the Wildcats.

Abington will be back in action next Saturday host Drew University next Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
