ABINGTON, PA – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team hosted Drew University, but suffered a 74-64 defeat to the Rangers on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany lions drop to 4-3 for the season after the loss.
Junior forward
Bobby Olsen (Florida, NY) led the way with 20 points in the game and defensively
Charles Ervin (Quakertown, PA) scooped 10 rebounds for the day.
Abington held an early lead in the first half thanks to points in the paint from
Jordan Lomax (West Haven, CT) and
Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA). With 14:51 on the clock the Rangers took their first lead of the game. Over the next few minutes the lead changed hands five times but an 8-0 run with only five minutes left in the half gave Drew 25-17 advantage. Right before the half the Rangers hit a late three to push their lead to double digits, but
John Ryan (Warminster, PA) cut the deficit right before the half down 33-23.
In the second half, the Nittany Lions came out hot with a 14-2 run thanks to tough points in the paint from Olsen. Abington took back the lead with less than 13 minutes to go, but couldn't hang on after clutch shooting from behind the arc for the Rangers.
Abington will be back in action on Wednesday December 19, when they host Cairn University at 8:00 p.m.
