ABINGTON, PA. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team made a late rally in the second half, but fell short to Cairn University, dropping to the Highlanders 78-75 on Wednesday night. The Nittany Lions fall to 4-4 for the season.

Sophomore
Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) hit a career high 28 points and added seven rebounds for the night. Freshman point guard
Charles Ervin (Quakertown, PA) earned a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards in the loss.
Â
In the first half the Highlanders jumped out to an early lead with a 14-4 run to start the game, and held the edge throughout the half thanks to their 44 percent shooting from the floor.
Â
The second half was a different story with the Nittany Lions slowly chipping away at the lead. With 11 minutes left on the clock Ghee gave the Nittany Lions a spark with his three-ball from downtown, brining the Nittany Lions within three points. The Highlanders held the slim margin until Ghee tied the game with his layup and only two minutes remaining in the game. A free throw from Ervin gave Abington it's first lead since the second minute of the game. Unfortunately the Highlanders took back the lead and held on thanks to clutch free throw shooting down the stretch.

The Nittany Lions will return to action over the holiday break when they travel to Arcadia University on December 30, at 2:00 p.m.
