Nittany Lions Fall to Neumann

ABINGTON,PA- The Penn State Abington women's basketball team earned their second loss of the season when they were defeated by Neumann University on Saturday afternoon 73-65. Abington now drops to 5-2 overall. 

Senior Shayna Rodriguez (Philadelphia, PA) led the Nittany Lions offense with a 19 point performance, and chipped in three rebounds and two steals. Juniors Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) and Laquana Nagbe (Philadelphia, PA) each dropped 14 points a piece. Sophomore Iman Richmond (Chicago, IL) contributed 8 points, and freshman Mikayla Noel-Cohen (Sicklersville, NJ) recorded 13 rebounds for the Nittany Lions.

The Nittany Lions battled the Knights in a close first quarter with a tied score at 15. Heading into halftime, Abington was the stronger team with a 33-31 lead. A sluggish second half performance by the Nittany Lions, resulted in 5 turnovers and 0-for-7 in 3 point attempts. Abington's defense was unable to stop Neumann's sophomore guard, Nafisa Saunders, who drained 30 crucial points in the second half for the Knights.

Abington will look to bounce back on Thursday December 20th when they travel to Delaware Valley University for a 6:00pm tip off.
