Baseball drops 3-1 Decision to Stevenson

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Penn State Abington baseball team closed out their North Carolina road trip with a 3-1 loss to Stevenson University on Saturday afternoon.

In the first inning junior Brett Guaglionona (Abington, Pa.) knocked a sharp single past the pitcher to drive in the first run of the game in the top of the first inning.

Junior Tyler DiPatri (Pedricktown, NJ) had a solid outing on the mound with five scoreless innings and six strikeouts, only allowing two hits to the Mustangs.

Stevenson took the lead in the sixth inning with back-to-back doubles and finished their scoring with a single to left field.

In the top of the ninth inning with two outs, Kyle Marshall (Fairless Hills, PA) got on base with a single to left field.  With the next two batters on and bases loaded, the Nittany Lions couldn't get a runner past the plate to send it into extra innings.

The Nittany Lions will be back in action when they host Medaile for their home opener on Sunday February 25th at noon.
