WASHINGTON DC – The Penn State Abington Men's Basketball Team came up short against the Gallaudet University Bison on this Saturday afternoon. Despite the lost, the team has already clinched a spot in the NEAC playoff. They will find out the location and time of their game once all conference games finish today. Abington finished the season 8-8 in the conference and 10-13 overall.
Freshman
Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA) led the Lions with 22 points for the game. Sophomore
John Ryan (Warminster, PA) recorded a double-double as he scored 11 points and had a total of 10 rebounds. Freshman
Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) contributed 17 points, while Junior
Jordan Lomax (West Haven, CT) dominated on the board with 10 rebounds.
Early in the first half Gallaudet went on a 6-0 run to start the game, however Freshman
Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) would end that run when he made a big two point jump shot. Towards the end of the first half, Hill landed a big three point jump shot to cut the deficit to three points. At the end of the first half, the Nittany Lions trailed the Bison 36-29.
In the second half, the Nittany Lions kept their composure and came up big on defense several times. Abington took advantage of their defensive ability and scored a total of 11 points off of turnovers. Towards the end of the game, Fitzgerald stole the ball from Gallaudet's Noah Valencia. The steal led to a Ryan layup at the other end of the court. Despite the big play and momentum shift, the Lions were unable to rally for a win.
Abington next game will be on Tuesday in the NEAC Tournament with location and time to be determined.
