MORRISVILLE, NY – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team traveled to NEAC North power Morrisville State, but couldn't pull off the upset in a 102-74 loss on Sunday afternoon. The Nittany Lions drop to 8-11 overall and 6-6 in the conference.
Freshman
Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA) recorded 17 points and four assists on the afternoon, while sophomore
John Ryan (Warminster, PA) knocked down 16 points with four steals. Four Nittany Lions were able to crack double-digits despite the loss.
In the high flying first half both teams pushed up and down the court trading baskets, but the Mustangs held a slim lead after the first five minutes of action. The Mustangs almost cracked a double-digit lead, but
Terrance Reese (Philadelphia, PA) hit a timely three-ball to keep Abington within striking distance midway through the half. The hosts pushed the tempo and were able to outscore the Nittany Lions 20-10 to end the half with a 61-40 advantage.
Abington was able to capitalize on free-throws in the second half going 13-of-15, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the Mustangs 53 percent shooting from the floor. Morrisville State held the lead throughout the second half, and kept their foot on the gas for the win.
Abington will continue the road trip to the College of Saint Elizabeth on Wednesday night at 5:00 p.m.
