Nittany Lions Rally Falls Short Against Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, NJ – The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team closed out its non-conference slate at Rutgers Camden and came up just shy in a 16-14 loss on Monday night. After the loss the Nittany Lions fall to 0-5 for the season.

Sophomore Melissa Felicetti (Willow Grove, PA) recorded five shots and fired them all into the back of the net to lead the scoring. It was a family affair with Allison Felicetti (Willow Grove, PA) notching three goals and chipped in two assists for the day.  Senior Midfielder Michaela Mast (Pottstown, Pa.) also added three goals of her own.

The Nittany Lions were off to a fast start with the game's first three goals, but the Scarlet Raptors responded and tied the game with three goals in a two-minute span. Melissa shifted momentum back to the Nittany Lions with two consecutive goals that helped Abington take a 9-5 lead before the break.

In the second half the Nittany Lions and Scarlet Raptors traded goals early in the period. A huge 8-1 run in the middle of the second half for Rutgers-Camden gave the hosts the advantage. Mast tried to rally Abington with a pair of goals with eight minutes remaining, but the Nittany Lions couldn't complete the upset.

Next Abington will open conference play when they host Wells College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
