ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington softball team continued its hot streak by sweeping Gallaudet on their way to five consecutive wins this season. The Nittany Lions took game one 7-5 and completed the sweep with a 10-1 win in five innings. After today the Nittany Lions improve to 6-10 overall and 5-1 in the NEAC.

Senior
Caitlin Brasier (Levittown, PA) stole the show in game one with four RBIs, including a two-run home run. On the mound junior
Becca Dougherty (Churchville, Pa.) earned two wins with only four earned runs given up between both games.

Gallaudet started game one off with a two-run shot to left field and took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Braiser responded with her own home run and tied the game 2-2, taking her pitch over the center field wall.

The Bison took the lead back in the second inning, but again the Nittany Lions tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the third with a single from Dougherty.

A triple from Gallaudet's Hannah Neild gave them a 5-3 advantage in the fifth inning. But the Nittany Lions rebounded in the bottom half of the inning. Braiser kicked off the scoring with her sacrifice fly deep to center field. Â Next Dougherty tied the game with her sharp single to center field.

Abington finally took the lead from the Bison in the sixth inning when
Kourtney Schneider (Ewing, NJ) doubled deep to center field to drive in a run. With the next at bat Braiser drove her in with a single up the middle and gave the Nittany Lions a 7-5 lead.

In game two the Nittany Lions were first on the board taking advantage of an error by the Bison. Later in the inning
Jackie McMenamin (Oreland, PA) drove in another run with her triple to left center field.

A double from
Samantha Friend (Southampton, PA) in the bottom of the second inning gave the Nittany Lions a 3-0 lead.Â

In the top of the third inning thee Bison got onto the board with a run, but in the bottom half of the inning the Nittany Lions added another three runs to their total, highlighted by a triple to center field from
Cassondra Towle (Lambertville, NJ).

Abington chipped in another four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the game out of reach for the Bison.

The Nittany Lions will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to the College of Saint Elizabeth at 3:00 p.m.
