MORRISTOWN, NJ – The Penn State Abington softball team traveled to the College of Saint Elizabeth for a pair of important NEAC South divisional games, but came away empty handed. The Nittany dropped game one 3-1 to the Eagles, and lost a heart breaker in game two, 5-4 on Thursday afternoon. After the loss the Nittany Lions drop to 6-12 for the season.

Becca Dougherty (Churchville, Pa.) had a solid outing on the mound despite the loss. In game one she only gave up two earned runs and struck out six batters. The lone run for the Nittany Lions came in the fourth inning from an RBI walk form
Gina Cuozzo (Havertown, Pa.).
In game two, the Nittany Lions fell behind early but continued to fight. Â
Jackie McMenamin (Oreland, PA) got the Nittany Lions on to the board with her RBI double to right center field. Abington added another two runs in the fourth inning, with RBI walks from Cuozzo and
Cara Shackelford (Douglassville, PA ).
Shackelford tied the game in the top of the sixth inning with her single, but in the bottom of the seventh inning the Eagles earned the win with a walk-off single.
Abington will continue their road trip when they travel to Penn State Berks this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
