ABINGTON, PA. – On senior day the Nittany Lions women's lacrosse team was looking to upset Medaille College but couldn't hold on in a 23-15 loss on Sunday afternoon. After the loss the Nittany Lions drop to 2-10 for the season and 2-5 in the conference.
In her final home game of the season, senior
Michaela Mast (Pottstown, Pa.) led the way for the Nittany Lions with five goals and right behind
Melissa Felicetti (Willow Grove, PA) earned four goals of her own.
Before the game the Nittany Lions honored Mast,
Bridget Meade (Willow Grove, PA) and
Lindsey Detweiler (Willow Grove, PA) for their hard work and contribution to the program in the final home game of their career.
The Mavericks were on the board first, but the Nittany Lions regrouped and scored four unanswered goals by four different players. The Mavericks shifted momentum and rallied to take the lead with four goals of their own.  Both teams traded goals, but the Nittany Lions still trailed, down 7-5. Felicetti sparked the offense with two consecutive goals to tie the game, but Medaille would hold a slim advantage at the break.
In the second half the Mavericks scored in bunches and started to pull away from the Nittany Lions, but a three goal run highlighted by a pair of goals from Mast kept them within striking distance. Another four goal run by the Mavericks helped to put the game out of reach for the Nittany Lions.
Abington will hit the road next weekend at Morrisville State next Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
