MORRISVILLE, NY – Sophomore
Jillian Stokes (Mayfair, PA) put up a career high four goals, but it wasn't enough for the Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team in a 24-7 loss to Morrisville State Friday afternoon. The Nittany Lions fall to 2-11 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
Stokes led the day with four goals, two ground balls, and seven draw controls. Senior
Michaela Mast (Spring City, Pa.) added two goals to her season total to bring her to 27 for the year.
Mast kept the game close early in the first half by answering the Mustangs after every goal. With the score tied 3-3 with 21 minutes left on the clock the Mustangs ripped off a five goal run to pull ahead. Stokes ended their spree with her goal at the 11 minute mark. The Musings went on to outscore the Nittany Lions 7-1 to end the half.
Morrisville State held a commanding lead in the second half and kept the Nittany Lions from rallying.
Abington will wrap up its season tomorrow when they travel to Cazenovia College at 1:00 p.m.
