DOYLESTOWN, PA – The Penn State Abington softball team faced off against Delaware Valley in their final non-conference game of the season, but came away empty handed on Tuesday afternoon. The Nittany Lions fell 10-2 in game one and lost game two 2-1 that moves them to 6-18 for the season.
In game one the Nittany Lions fell behind 5-0 early in the game thanks to a pair of home runs by the Aggies. The Nittany Lions cut the lead with two runs,thanks to
Jackie McMenamin (Oreland, PA) taking home on a wild pitch. The Aggies went on to add another five runs to push the game out of reach.
In the third inning of game two the Aggies took a 2-0 advantage over the Nittany Lions, but
Becca Dougherty (Churchville, Pa.) slammed a home run in the fourth inning to cut the lead. In the top of the seventh the Nittany Lions had two runners on, but couldn't get them across the plate to tie the game.
The Nittany Lions will honor senior
Caitlin Brasier (Levittown, PA) for senior day on Thursday when they host Wilson College at 3:00 p.m.
