CAZENOVIA, NY – The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team clinched its second straight NEAC Tournament berth with a 19-16 win over Cazenovia College on Saturday afternoon.  The Nittany Lions wrap up the regular season with a 3-11 record overall and 3-6 in the conference.
A four goal performance from senior
Michaela Mast (Spring City, Pa.) and sophomore
Jillian Stokes (Mayfair, PA) led the way for the Nittany Lions. Along with her four goals Stokes racked up nine draw controls, five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
The Nittany Lions took an early 3-1 lead over the Wildcats in the first half, but Cazenovia caught up and tied the game. After trading goals, the Wildcats held a slim 7-5 advantage with under a minute in the half. Sophomore
Marleigh Nociti (Levittown, PA) cut the deficit with only seconds remaining before the break.Â
Within the first 15 seconds of the second half
Allison Felicetti (Willow Grove, PA) tied the game being assisted by Nociti. The Wildcats shifted momentum in their favor with a 6-1 run, looking to put away the Nittany Lions. Down 13-8 with only 15 minutes remaining
Melissa Felicetti (Willow Grove, PA) energized the Nittany Lions with her goal. Â With only five minutes left on the clock Mast tied the game with her goal that highlighted a 5-0 run for the Nittany Lions. The Wildcats tried to rally, but goals from
Sarah Eisele (Langhorne, PA) and
Melanie McIntyre (Mayfair, PA) put the game out of reach.
The Nittany Lions will travel up to Keuka College on Tuesday for the first round of the NEAC Tournament at 2:00 p.m.
