LANCASTER, PA. – Behind a huge day from
Danielle Hebling (Warminster, Pa.) the Penn State Abington softball team finished out its regular season with a series sweep of Lancaster Bible on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions finish the year with an 8-20 mark overall and 7-7 in the NEAC. Abington topped the Chargers in game one 4-1, and cruised to a 9-0 win in five innings.
Hebling led the way for the Nittany Lions with four RBI's including her towering home run in game two.
Both teams were deadlocked through four innings in game one, but the Chargers were first on the board to take the 1-0 lead. In the sixth inning
Kourtney Schneider (Ewing, NJ) tied the game with her RBI triple. The Nittany Lions notched another run in the sixth inning to hold the edge. In the seventh inning Abington took advantage of errors to put the game out of reach.
In game two the Nittany Lions jumped out to a commanding 4-0 lead in the first inning. Junior
Samantha Friend (Southampton, PA) scored for the Nittany Lions off a passed ball. With two on and two outs Hebling stepped up to the plate and rocked her first home run of her career. In the fifth inning five consecutive singles helped the Nittany Lions to another five runs and lock up the win.
