Men's Soccer Earns 3-1 Win over Penn State Berks

READING, PA – In a critical game against their rivals, the Penn State Abington men's soccer team traveled to Penn State Berks and earned a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.  After the win the Nittany Lions improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

In the first half Abington was first on the board with a goal from Tomasz Ogonowski (Pipersville, PA) in the 5th minute. Ogonowski took advantage of the keeper misplaying a corner kick and was right there to tap in the goal.   Alex Khaldoui for Penn State Berks responded with a goal in the 19th minute to tie the match.  Later in the half Abington earned a penalty kick, with Hernando Villamil (Philadelphia, PA) taking the ball. The keeper did well to save the initial attempt by Villamil, but the forward slotted home the rebounded shot for his first goal of the season.

In the second half Jose Palomeque (Upper Dublin, PA) placed a beautiful shot that tucked inside the far post to give the Nittany Lions a commanding 3-1 lead.  Abington's defense was rock solid in the second half only allowing two more shots to Penn State Berks.

The Nittany Lions look to continue their streak when they travel to Gallaudet on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
