Nittany Lions Run Past Mustangs, 5-1

ABINGTON, PA – Facing a tough test from Morrisville State, the Penn State Abington men's soccer team took on the challenge and controlled the NEAC power with a 5-1 win on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Nittany Lions remain undefeated in the conference at 5-0, and improve to 7-2 overall.  The Nittany Lions handed the Mustangs their first conference loss of the season and sit alone at the top of the NEAC standings.

Jose Palomeque (Upper Dublin, PA), Hernando Villamil (Philadelphia, PA) and Tomasz Ogonowski (Pipersville, PA) all netted their fifth goal of the season all vying for the top of the stat sheet for the season.

Ogonowski cut through the defense in the 11th minute with a phenomenal individual effort and opened the scoring with his shot to the left post.  In the 19th minute Palomeque doubled the lead when Ed Worthington (Fairless Hills, PA) crossed the ball from the right wing, and found the sophomore forward for the tap in at the post.  Senior Defender Sean Seidenburg (Rockledge PA) launched a deep ball which found Jaden Truskey (Ephrata, PA) with the header to make it 3-0. Villamil added to their total in the 33rd minute to help the Nittany Lions control the match.  The Mustangs cut into the defecit with a goal in the 36th minute, but Abington was never in doubt adding another goal in the second half from Sebastian Krysztofowicz (Doylestown, PA).

Abington is back in action tomorrow when the host Cazenovia College at 2:00 p.m.
