Men's Basketball Outlasts Cazenovia

ABINGTON, PA – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team kept their perfect conference record after a 72-63 win over Cazenovia on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions improve to 7-6 after the win and 4-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Sophomore Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) led the Nittany Lions with 20 points while Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA)notched a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

A strong first half from Bobby Olsen (Florida, NY) on the boards helped the Nittany Lions get out to a comfortable lead.  Fitzgerald and freshman Charles Ervin (Quakertown, PA) earned clutch three's from downtown to help the Nittany Lions push the lead to 15 points in the final minutes.

The Nittany Lions held a comfortable lead in the second half, but the Wildcats wouldn't go down quietly after a 10-0 run Cazenovia trailed 59-57 with six minutes remaining. Fitzgerald broke the Wildcats momentum with a huge three-ball to energize the Nittany Lions. The Wildcats came within four points in the remaining minutes but the Nittany Lions outlasted the Cazenovia on their way to their best start to conference play since joining the NEAC.

Abington returns to action tomorrow to take on North Division powerhouse Morrisville State at 2:00 p.m.
