ABINGTON, PA ā On Sunday afternoon, the Penn State Abington women's basketball team lost their first conference game of the season. The Nittany Lions were defeated by the Morrisville State Mustangs 74-58. Abington falls to 4-1 in conference, and 7-6 overall.
The Nittany Lions started the first quarter strong by leading the Mustangs with a close score of 12-11. However, Abington struggled in the second quarter by making only 30% of their field goals. Morrisville State was successful in draining over 50% of their field goals.
Abington's leading scorers this afternoon were juniors Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) and Laquana Nagbe (Philadelphia, PA) who each tallied 15 points for the Nittany Lions. Junior Angie Tabares (Hackensack, NJ) scored her season high of 8 points and 5 rebounds. Iman Richmond (Chicago, IL) and Shayna Rodriguez (Philadelphia, PA) each had 9 points for Abington.
The team will be back in action this Wednesday Jan. 16 when they travel to Gallaudet University for a 5:00pm conference game.
