FREDERICK, MD.- The Penn State Abington women's basketball team dropped their first game in the New Year to Hood College 57-53. Abington falls to 5-4 on the season.

Senior Shayna Rodriguez (Philadelphia, PA) led the Nittany Lions with a 19 point performance, and 8 rebounds. Junior Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) drained 10 points, and Laquana Nagbe (Philadelphia, PA) scored 8. Sophomore Iman Richmond (Chicago, IL) recorded her season high of 13 rebounds.

Abington and Hood were all tied up 53-53 with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game. After a turnover, and missed layup from the Nittany Lions, Hood went up 55-53 with 30 seconds left in play. Abington missed two crucial free throws, before being forced to send the Blazers to the free throw line where they captured the win.

Abington will play their final non-conference game on Monday January 7th when they travel to Rutgers-Camden for a 6:00pm tip-off.
