WILLIAMSPORT, PA – On the road at Penn College the Penn State Abington men's basketball team held on to a 64-53 win over the Wildcats on Wednesday night. After the win the Nittany Lions improve to 9-8 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) led the way for the Nittany Lions with 15 points each. Â Back on the court
John Ryan (Warminster, PA) led the Nittany Lions on the boards with nine for the game.
In the first half, the Nittany Lions and the Wildcats traded blows with the lead changing hands six times in the first 10 minutes of action.  Neither team could gain a foothold until Fitzgerald drained back-to-back three pointers to give the Nittany Lions the 27-19 lead. Penn College hit a shot late in the half to chip away at the lead, but the Nittany Lions went into the break, up 29-23 over the Wildcats.
The Nittany Lions came out with a hot hand in the beginning of the second half. Sophomore
Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) helped the Nittany Lions to a 13 point advantage after hitting his shot from downtown. The Wildcats wouldn't go down without a fight, and came roaring back with only six minutes remaining in the game. With the Nittany Lions up 49-48 in a crucial moment of the game, Fitzgerald found his groove from behind the arc again to shift momentum in their favor. Penn College tried to make one last rally, but the Nittany Lions hit their free-throws down the stretch to hold on to the win.
Abington hits the road when they travel to Wells College this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
