ABINGTON, PA. –The Penn State Abington women's soccer team hosted Cabrini College looking for an upset, but the Nittany Lions lost a heartbreaker to the Cavilers 2-1 in overtime. After the loss the Nittany Lions fall to 2-8 for the season.
In the first half the game was deadlocked with the Nittany Lions having a solid defensive game. Junior goalkeeper
Morgan O'Loughlin kept the Cavilers off the score sheet with four saves helping to shift momentum in the Nittany Lions favor.
Right out of the break the Nittany Lions pressed the Cavilers hard. Sophomore forward
Taylor Perkowski collected the ball in the box and curled her shot to the far post to stun Cabrini and give the Nittany Lions the 1-0 lead. Cabrini pressed throughout the second half trying to get past the Nittany Lions but Abington stood firm at the back until the 84
th minute when the Cavilers broke through to force overtime off a corner kick.
In overtime each team had their chances, but Cabrini converted there's off a perfect corner that went into the far post.
Abington will look to rebound when they host Gallaudet this Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
