ABINGTON, PA. – Thanks to a hat-trick from senior
Hernando Villamil the Penn State Abington men's soccer team handled its business with a 6-1 win over Wells College on Saturday afternoon. Â With the win the Nittany Lions sit in third place in the NEAC standings with an 8-4 record overall and 6-2 in the conference.
After today's performance Villamil moves to the top of the NEAC charts, leading the conference in goals with 12 for the season. The senior forward continues to push the programs goal scoring record now with 40 career goals.
It didn't take Villamil long to find the back of the net when he cut through the entire Express backline to score in the second minute of the game. Only moments later junior
Sebastian Krysztofowicz doubled the lead after a huge throw in from
Jose Palomeque. The Nittany Lions defense shut down the Express only allowing one shot the entire first half.
After the break the Nittany Lions scored in bunches with a pair of goals from Villamil only a minute apart to push the lead to 4-0. Later in the half
Jose Palomeque added to his assists with a goal in the 63
rd minute, and freshman
Ryan Hannigan netted his second goal of the season to end the scoring for the Nittany Lions.
Next the Nittany Lions will travel to Rutgers Camden on Wednesday night to face off against the 11-5-1 Scarlet Raptors at 7:00 p.m.
