ABINGTON, PA- In their final game in the year 2019, the Penn State Abington women's basketball team fell to Eastern University 80-51. The Nittany Lions drop to 3-5 on the season.
Senior Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) led the way for Abington with 14 points. Despite the lost, Abington put up a season best by collecting 50 rebounds. Ashya Gaddy (Philadelphia, PA) contributed nine, while Iman Richmond, Laquana Nagbe, and Nakiyah Green each had seven. Both Gaddy & Green earned personal bests by draining nine points in today's performance.
Laquana Nagbe (Philadelphia, PA) got the game going for Abington with two back to back perfect jumpers to tie the game at four a piece. The Nittany Lions struggled by going four minutes without a basket, forcing them to trail 13-10 at the end of the first quarter.
Eastern dominated in the second quarter with a fifteen-point lead 34-19 at the half. The Eagles kept their foot on the gas scoring a season best of 29 points in the third quarter against the Nittany Lions. This margin put the game out of reach for Abington, and allowed the Eagles to escape with a 80-51 victory.
