Women's Basketball Falls to Rutger-Camden 66-46

ABINGTON, PA- Tonight the Penn State Abington women's basketball team hosted Rutgers-Camden for their first game in the New Year. The Nittany Lions fell to the Raptors 66-46, and fall to 3-6 on the season.
 
The Raptors started the game off with a 9-0 run over the Nittany Lions. Sophomore Lacy MacLachlin (Boyertown, PA) broke the silence in the 7th minute with a deep three to get Abington on the board. Two minutes later MacLachlin delivered another crucial three to put Abington in closer distance 12-7. Junior Iman Richmond (Chicago, IL) joined the three train by collecting her first basket of the night, closing the gap down 12-10. Richmond finished the night with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
 
Rutgers-Camden played aggressive defense in the second quarter, keeping Abington off the board for an entire five minutes. Lacy MacLachlin (Boyertown, PA) delivered her third three of the night, and led Abington with a total of eleven points in tonight's performance. The Raptors held a 35-27 lead heading into the half. 
 
Abington opened the third quarter by getting on the board first after Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) drove to the basket to earn two free throws. The Nittany Lions forced a turnover, and Iman Richmond (Chicago, IL) earned a basket changing the score to 35-31. Ashya Gaddy (Philadelphia, PA) took a charge and allowed Abington the ball back before Laquana Nagbe (Philadelphia, PA) put the Nittany Lions in their closest reach of the game, 35-33. However, Abington turned the ball over four times, allowing the Raptors to bust open their lead 47-37.
 
In the final quarter, Abington was only able put up eight points, allowing Rutgers-Camden to escape with the 66-46 victory.
 
Up next, Abington will host NEAC opponent SUNY Cobleskill this Saturday for a 3:00pm tip off.
