Nittany Lions Win NEAC Opener Over Keuka

KEUKA, NY- The Penn State Abington women's basketball team picked up their first conference win this afternoon, by defeating Keuka College in a close 56-52 battle. The Nittany Lions are now 3-3 and open conference play with a perfect 1-0 start.
 
Senior veteran Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) led the way for Abington with her season high of 16 points. Behind her was junior Iman Richmond (Chicago, IL) who tallied 11 points with nine rebounds and two steals. Sophomore Mikayla Noel-Cohen (Sicklersville, NJ) earned a season high of seven rebounds, while collecting nine points for Abingotn.
 
The Nittany Lions got off to a sluggish start, only sinking 29% of their field goals. They trailed the Wolves by three heading into halftime 22-19. Iman Richmond opened the second half with a deep three to give Abington the 28-24 advantage. The Lady Lions fed off this energy to drain 51% of their field goals in the second half.
 
 Abington's offense came alive in the fourth quarter to put up 20 points in their final 10 minutes. Sophomore Lacy MacLachlin (Boyertown, PA) contributed seven points to Abington's victory by draining two of four perfect threes. Abington jumped out to a twelve-point lead by pounding all 12 points in the paint. The Nittany Lions also took advantage of the Wolves and sped up the game by scoring 10 points off fast breaks.  Abington's defense forced Keuka in to eight turnovers, capitalizing on their prey. The Nittany Lions earned their first conference win of the season by shutting down the 2019 regular season champs 56-52. Junior Ashya Gaddy (Philadelphia, PA) had lights out defense with a season high of three steals and one block. 
 
Up next Abington will continue on the road to Swarthmore College this Thursday for a 6:00pm tip off.
